Msg Subject: Poor service from ebasicmarine.com

Hey guys, as some of you may know, I have been rebuilding my engine in my boat.  I started buying parts that I thought I would need at the beginning of June.  One of the parts I ordered was a gimbal bearing kit with bellows and gaskets.  It arrived on 6/0/10.  I ended up paying a shop to put my outdrive back in, and forgot to drop off the kit.  I was out of town so when they got to that point they said mine was bad, so in the interest of getting it done, I told him to just replace it with one of his stock items.

So I call ebasicmarine this morning to return the kit and they tell me that because it has been over 30 days that they will not accept it.  I offered to pay the restock fee and even take a credit because I have a few items I still need.  The gentleman I spoke to was rude and when I told him I would have to look for another vender he said "go ahead, I dont care" .

So I sent an email to their customer service as follows and their response was "Have a save baoting season".  Unreal!!

I was very dissapointed when I called in today to get an RMA number for some parts(gimbal bearing kit) that I did not need during my engine rebuild.  The person manning the phone told me that because it had been over 30 days that I could not longer return it.  The part is still new and in the box.

The reason it is 30 days out is because I started buying parts for my rebuild well ahead of time.  It is an unused part, and is of no use to me.

This incident has prompted me to start to look for another supplier.  There are plenty of online suppliers out there.  My boat is getting older and I am sure myself and boating friends will be in need of parts in the future, but due to this incident, I will not be using your services.

Good businesses are formed on a relationship with existing customers, repeat costumers and word of mouth.  It cost far more to establish a new relationship with a new costumer than it does to keep an existing costumer.  You have lost an existing costumer, and I will be letting all of my boating club and boating friends know of the lousy customer service I recieved here.  Many of which have, and were going to order parts from you, but once they hear of this they may not.

Nice, after sending a sarcastic email back in response to their sarcastic reply saying have a safe boating season, I get a response letter telling me that becasue of my sarcastic rhetoric that they refuse to sell to me anymore.  LOL

Yeah, and the worst part of the whole thing was that it was only 31 days out and I was willing to trade out for other parts that I did needed.  I mean, what kind of business acts like that??  I have never heard of anything like it.  Oh well.  Like I told them, there are plenty of other online venders.  Yes they have great prices, but now all I do is use their website(until they go out of business due to lousy customer service) to get prices and just about every other vender matches prices.  So good riddens and good bye to them.

I gave the extra parts to the guy that bought my boat.  He was pretty happy about it.
