ReplyMsg Posted: 5:25 PM 8/14/2009 ( msg #6021 ) Msg Subject: New tow vehicle Well we have been towing the boat with a 97 Yukon SLT 4x4. Nice truck, but because it sat all the time except to tow, it was getting expensive to keep. Well not really but it takes up valuable driveway space, and the extra insurance is not worth having an extra car. So the wife agreed to get a daily driver that could tow the boat. We picked up a Trailblazer EXT LT with the 5.3 V8. Tows like a dream. Far superior to my Dad's Navigator Mark LT 4x4 wth the 5.4. Braking is brisk and sure, tows straight without swaying or anything and the 5.3 is smooth and strong. I wanted something bigger, but I like it. Tow capacity with the 3.73s is 7000lbs and it tows our boat like its not back there. We traded her Saab 9-5 for it, so that nightmare is finally gone. It really was a good vehicle, 100k without anything but maintanance, but it still scared me for the potential cost of repairs if it ever broke bad. So the Yukon is for sale if anyone is interested. We no longer need it and it is in amazing condition for its age. We have my work van, my Z28 and the Yukon, and I am not giving up my Z unless someone comes up with a nice trade in the form of a Corvette. |
