OK so today was a wash for boating.  Rain and the threat of storms all morning and still looking kinda nasty, so we drove over to the marina but decided it best to not take the boat out.  Being that Bonnie's doesnt have Miller Lite and the wife wanted a cold Miller Lite on draft, we decided to give Shady Oaks a try.  They supposedly have the best burgers on the river. 

Honestly, I didnt think they were the best, but they were pretty damn good for a $5 burger.  You could only get it med/well, and I like em bloody, so.  Natasia had a pulled pork sandwich, also $5 and Chris had a blackened fish sandwich, and you guessed it, $5.  So total bill was $22 for 4 sandwiches and a pitcher of----wait for it------Miller Lite.  By far the cheapest place on the river and Chris and Natasia said its better than Bonnie's and a close second to Castaways. 

I could definately recommend it, and you can pull right up on the boat, or park your car across the street.  Its hard to see from the water, or from the road for that matter, but it is tucked away down under the 44 bridge on the St Johns.

Their wings are great too!!!!! Some people say they are better than Castaways, but I'd like to see the two places have a cookoff to see for myself.

Sorry, Stan.  My vote is definitely for Shady Oak's chicken wings.  The medium garlic, extra wet were delicious!  I will try Castaways again because you said they were having a off nigt when we went last time.  Let's see if they can change my vote.  

I remember you saying the wings were good, but everyone said they had the best burgers on the river.  Not so much.  I did see those wings though and they looked good.  We also saw some frog legs and Natasia said NO WAY!!

Mny--- I have to say all the times I have eaten at Shady oaks, I have NEVER tried a burger!!!  So it is good to know that I won't have to now!!!  Stan said to tell Natasia that the frog legs are very good!!!

My vote for the wings is really a close race-----  I have had consistently better luck with Shady oaks, but have really only had one time that Castaways were not  on top of their game.  I am going to hold onto my vote until I try Castaways again.

Although if you throw in Kim's wings and the ones like Stan made us this weekend, then I am really going to have a hard time choosing!!!!!!
