ReplyMsg Posted: 6:02 PM 11/04/2008 ( msg #4249 ) Msg Subject: Sandbars in the dark OK so we havent been around for a while. Friday before last we decided to take the boat up to Inlet Harbor. On the way back it was dark and low tide. Right at Ponce inlet we hit bottom hard. Not sure why, we were in the channel. Must me some strange tides in there recently We had 5 men on the boat, with cocktails and cigars in hand, and we must have looked silly standing in the water pushing it off the sandbar in our regular clothes. Yeah, stupid, but not really, we were being carefull, and were where we were supposed to be. But we all got a laugh out of it once we got free. No damage thank goodness. |

Now we know where to avoid next time we are out. I knew we were close, and wanted to kinda figure how big and which way to avoid it, so we did. Incidently, DI was a blast Saturday, Brought a couple car club buddies with us. Not as crowded as the previous weekend, but I guess the looming weather and small craft advisory scared a few away. We just played it really careful and had a blast. Brought the stupid dog with us for the first time. He had fun once he got used to the whole thing. |
