D, as you know i have a diesel and they make tons of programers for them. i looked into them and found similar info as above as being concerned about making too much head presure and having a failure. with gas engines you may just be able to adjust the shift points on your auto transmission and get the desired effect without messing around with the timing and ignition. |

On gas engines the biggest differance is in the shift points, not realy great improvements in power or fuel milage. On diesel engines if you set them to tow safe setting they realy come to life. If you use the high performance mode you MUST have an exhaust temperature gauge as you will overheat and blow a turbo quick. The trucks I've used them on were Ford F150 5.4 gas, Ford F250 6.0 diesel Ford F350 7.3 diesel, and we are getting ready to put one on the new Ford 6.4 diesel. I also have it in the plans to add one to my wifes Dodge 2500 5.9 Cummins diesel. Just my .02, good luck and do a lot of research first. |

Both companys offer on the fly adjustments. They will allow you to adjust shift points for towing andthe real high end kits will allow you to aadjust the timming. That is something I would not recommend playing with. To much timing in an engine can lead to an engine failure. You can run them to lean ( to much air not enough fuel) and burn holes in pistons. The other extreme is run them to rich ( to much fuel not enough air) and the engine is unable to burn the extra fuel, and you end up with poor fuel mileage and other problems as well. |
