Msg Subject: OOPS Terry had his day

Terry and I have a dock routine that hasnt changed in all the years of boating.

I do all the dock work and he backs the trailer in and out of the water.

Well Sunday we were getting home late again, raining, both of us dead tired. We pull up to the dock like always I catch the dock attach my line and he turns off the boat, goes and gets truck and trailer, our little one goes on the trailer VERY easy so I just pull her on it only takes a little push and she is right there where she belongs.

OK same as every day, no problems Right???

Right, terry starts pulling forward I always stay on the dock, just to be sure we are center!!!

All of a sudden, I hear a horrible noise, I step back just a little to see the back and DANG...somebody forgot the tilt !!!!!!!!!!!

Luckily we caught it as soon as it hit and he didnt drag our outdrive up the ramp.

MILLISSA,

TOO FUNNY! THAT HAS NOW HAPPENED TO ME TWICE! I SAID IT NEVER WOULD, AND IT DID. I ALWAYS LOAD AND UNLOAD OUR BOAT AND JUST HAPPENED TO BE THAT THE 2 TIMES I FORGOT TO PUT THE DRIVE UP, I HAD SOMEONE DISTRACTING ME! NO...NO EXCUSES, I JUST HAVE A "ROUTINE" THAT I FOLLOW, AND IF IT GETS INTERRUPTED, I FALL APART! SINCE THEN, HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN, AND I IGNORE EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING WHEN LOADING!

That is a sicking sound isn't it? The first time Chris and Teena went with us Chris backed me down the ramp in lake dora, i waved to him that it was far enough, then lowered the drive and started the motor.

With all of this done I motioned for him to back me up until the boat floated off the trailer when all of a sudden WAM the drive hit concrete. I found out later that when they rebuilt the ramp they left a hump in it. They say it's for washout, but i think they just screwed up.

that is just one of the reasons I don't like boating in those lakes.

IT'S REALLY NOT HARD TO DO IF YOU GET DISTRACTED! PEOPLE YELLING OR ASKING YOU QUESTIONS, WATCHING OUT FOR SOME DUMBASS THAT DOESN'T PAY ATTENTION, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!

For years I just got in the boat and drove.  I was lake patrol at Disney for years.  The first few times I had to put my own boat in I forgot it a couple times.  Luckily the boat I had back then was allready a rough boat.  It ran good but was horrible otherwise.  Every so often I forget, but somebody always yells at me.

Ever leave the flush ears on the boat attatched to the hose and drive off??

We have a step ladder that we use to get in and out of the boat at home(easier than using the boat ladder)---I have driven off a couple of times with the ladder still leaning against the boat.  I usually only hook the boat up if Stan isn't home and I want to be ready to leave when he gets there.   That is a freaky sound, as I am always scared I am going to hurt "his" boat, so I just ease it out of the back yard and then you hear a THUD!!!

JENNIFER, I THINK I HAVE HEARD THAT NOISE A TIME OR TWO! J/K! I'VE  HAD MY SHARE OF SILLY TRICKS AND SO HAS CHRIS! IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN, RIGHT? AS LONG AS NO ONE GETS HURT, I FIGURE WE CAN TALK ABOUT IT AND JUST LAUGH!

Alright since we are telling on ourselves.  Our boat stays under a canopy that is alitlle tight,to say the least. Well I was pulling the boat out one morning to go on a river run. I made it to the road before I relised that the canopy was coming with me. It got hooked on a snap and I dragged the whole thing about ten feet.

Since then I have raised the conapy about 8 inches so that does not happen again.
