If Gas prices are getting the power boaters down you might consider a trailerable sailer with a small engine.  I highly recommend <com-pacyachts.com> as a starting place for those who might be interested.  We had a Com-Pac 19' and trailed her to Titusville for a shuttle launch, Singer Island for a visit with my dad, and to Venice/Nakomis for a week vacation. One tank of gas lasts several weeks.

LOU,

I'm not sure I could ever get my wife on a boat without a reasonable size motor. I would love to try to sail , but I don't think I have the patiance for it.

Ok, so a lot of us would like to try it and see what it's all about. How can we make it happen?

Plenty of comments from sailing wanna-bees here.  All I can say is JUST TRY IT. I was hooked after my first five minutes after the sails went up. And that was 34 years ago. A good place to start is Offshore Sailing School. They have lots of locations all over the country. www.offshoresailing.com.
