ReplyMsg Posted: 11:56 PM 6/10/2008 ( msg #193 ) Msg Subject: Boat restorations Not a whole lot of people I have met are into the full blown restoration like I am. My wife and I have a Wellcraft 233 eclipse that we restored. Now when I say restored I don't mean alittle inter. work or some paint. This went way beyond, to the point I thought I was going to lose my mind. We cut the flooors out and replaced all the old wood with up graded thickness. We went from 5/8's to 3/4,And that included the cabin as well. They were sealed on the bottom with a polyuithan sealer and the tops got treated to spray-in bed liner for a truck. After all the fiberglass work , sanding and the sparying, came all the newly built interior panels. They also got treated to new material, and custom colors. Plus there was all the wireing problems that had to be over come. Once the interior was finished and the wife was happy with it.Then came the new paint for the stripe down the side. You can not have a custom boat and not have custom paint. The next step was to sand the old line do,only to find someone else had the same idea years ago. So now you get double the sanding duty. Once all that got finished the next step is to prep for the new paint.. The new coplor is doe skin or a light tan. Now comes te vinayl lettering. Now I required the help of Stan the sign man. We all know him as stan.He did all the lettering and numbering on the boat. There are a few more pieces he is making us just to finish off the boats final touches. Like I said in the begining I have not met many people who are into that kind of job on their boats. If there are any questions about restoration you are doing I will be more then happy to led as much assisstance as I can. Feel free to ask anything. |

I must admit they suprised me, they took their time and made sure everything was the way it needed to be. My hats off to them for a job well done. |
