ReplyMsg Posted: 10:54 PM 5/09/2008 ( msg #119 ) Msg Subject: Jet Ski Repair HELP!!!! I got a nylon cord wrapped around my drive shaft and I cannot reach it to dislodge or cut it out. I've already pulled the grate off and was able to get some of it, but it's wedged in preety good just beyond where the shaft goes into the hull. Any thoughts or tips on how I might be able to get this out (without taking the whole ski apart). Thanks for the tips!

Also if you don't get all the rope out it will cut your shaft where it rubs against it. I haven't worked on a sea doo for a while, but i think there is a grease fitting on that seal inside the hull, take the driveshaft cover off and see. If there is you may be able to push the rope back out of thru seal housing by removing the sparkplugs and turning the motor backwards by hand whille adding grease to the fitting. If you can get any part of the rope to start out of the housing, you should be able to "unwind" it by turning the motor backwards by hand and pulling on the rope from the under side. It may will probably be a two person job. I hope this helps. Good luck, Stan. |
