Leaving Ballard Park in Melbourne, enjoy a 2-˝ hour ride down the Intracoastal. When you arrive at the St. Lucie Inlet, a stop at ‘the sandbar’ is a must! This large sandbar runs parallel to the Intracoastal Waterway. It is here that locals and out-of-town boaters alike often come to sunbathe on bows, socialize, see and be seen, and basically frolic in the sense of a "road rally" for boaters. We always like to take out the grill here and eat lunch. Pull anchor and head west towards Manatee Pocket.
St. Lucie Inlet is located at the confluence of the Intracoastal Waterway and the Okeechobee Waterway, the St. Lucie Inlet offers direct access to the Atlantic Ocean, and is a significant portal for marine commerce and recreational boaters; so beware, the water can be rough.
As you enter Manatee Pocket, you will pass several other marinas to your right before you come upon Pirate’s Cove Resort & Marina………….. a little slice of a Key West setting right in Port Salerno.
Pirate’s Cove has a great full service marina if you want to stay on your boat. They also offer beautiful waterfront rooms—all with balconies. The view from the rooms overlooking the Manatee pocket is absolutely beautiful in the early morning. (Pet, non-smoking and handicap accessible rooms available.)
Enjoy the rest of your afternoon by the heated, freshwater pool. There is a bar and food service available poolside.
Later, dress up or dress down and dine waterfront in one of the two indoor dining rooms, on the outdoor covered deck, or inside the Pirates Loft Lounge. Finish the evening with dancing at the Pirates Loft Lounge.
